Hide ur drives How to Hide the drives(c:,d:,e:,a:...etc)? How to Hide the drives(c:,d:,e:,a:...etc)?
This is a great trick you can play on your friends. To disable the display of local or networked drives when you click My Computer. 1.Go to start->run.Type regedit.Now go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer Now in the right pane create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives(it is case sensitive). Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal) .Now restart your computer. So, now when you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown(all gone...). To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item that you created.Again restart your computer.You can now see all the drives again. Magic........lol....

INCREASE BROADBAND SPEED

1) Goto http://www.testmy.net/ and click on Download Speed Test, and then on Smart Test....(and while conducting this test, don't forget to close all Instant Messagers, and there should be no other web activity, other than the test) 2) Note down the speeds. Now, lets see, what all changes to be made..... This tip is designed for increased BROADBAND speed in Windows XP while using standard Network Interface cards (NIC) that are connected to ADSL modems, or when using any directly-connected USB ADSL modem. To speed up the Internet connection speed we need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made from the NIC or the USB modem. This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher. Step #1 - Identify the IRQ used by the NIC/USB modem 1. Open the System Information tool by running MSINFO32.EXE from the Run command. 2. Expand System Summary > Hardware Resources > IRQs. 3. Look for the listing made for your NIC (in my case - a Intel® PRO/100+ Management Adapter). Note the IRQ next to the specified line (in my case - IRQ21). In case of USB modems you will first need to find the right USB device used by your modem. Follow these steps: 1. Open the Device Manager tool by running DEVMGMT.MSC from the Run command (or by right-clicking My Computer > Hardware tab > Device Manager button). 2. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it. 3. Right-click the USB Root Hub and select Properties. Note that you might need to do so for all listed USB Root hubs (if there are more than one) in order to find the right one. 4. In the Power tab, look for your USB ADSL modem. 5. In the Resources tab look for the assigned IRQ (in this case - IRQ21). 6. This is the IRQ we're looking for. Note: IRQs and modem names might vary... Step #2 - Modify the system.ini file 1. Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the Run command. 2. Expand the system.ini file window. 3. Scroll down almost to the end of the file till you find a line called [386enh]. 4. Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type IRQX=4096 where X is the designated IRQ number we found in step #1, in my case it's IRQ21. Note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE!!! 5. Click on the File menu, then choose Save. 6. Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer. Done. Speed improvement will be noticed after reboot

LOCK UR FOLDER

This is a different way to lock up ur folder without using any software This is not hiding ur folder but locking it..using batch file...

What is batch file??? It is this file (command.com) which handles all DOS commands that you give at the DOS prompt---such as COPY, DIR, DEL etc. code...

steps to do it........ 1) Copy the give code in a note pad and save the note pad in your pc with the name name.bat (that is with the extension of .bat). you can replace the name portion with anything u want. ( In place of password in the code given type your desired password.) 2) A batch file will be created where you hav saved. Now double click on it , it will make a folder with the name locker at the same place where the batch file is save. 3) Now add the files you want to be locked in that folder. 4) Double click on the batch file. It will ask for locking the folder formed. Type y(yes). The folder will be locked and hidden. 5) To unlock,double click on batch file again and enter the password in the new window opened.

As it was mentioned before, the history of hacking is intermixed with the history of computers. Many of the famous computer hackers of the past are the billionaires of today.

The most known hacker is Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft. Considered the richest person in the world for more than a decade, he became the most successful entrepreneur of the computer industry. Profiles of Bad Hackers

Unfortunately, there are as many bad hackers as productive hackers. One of the most famous black hackers is Kevin Mitnick, who broke into the computers of several organizations, including Fujitsu, Motorola, Sun Microsystems and Nokia. He was imprisoned and even today can't use a computer due to a judicial restriction.

Another famous hacker is Vladimir Levin, a mathematician who led a group of Russian hackers and stole ten million dollars from Citibank. Until this day, no one knows how they did it.

Jonathan James case is a bit more complicated. He was the first juvenile from the teen hackers of the USA to be prosecuted for computer hacking. But that didn't stop him. Later, he was able to access the computer systems of NASA and the US Department of Defense. Finally, he was imprisoned.

Years ago, before the coming of the internet, hackers around the world caused a lot of mayhem in organizations. But now that they have a potential market of hundreds of millions of persons, their options are almost limitless. That's why online fraud is considered one of the cancers of the internet. The only way to protect from it, is becoming an anti hacker ourselves, maintaining up to date with the most basic knowledge: firewall, antivirus, antispam, constant operating system updates and taking care of suspicious websites.

The effects of computer hacking in our history can't be denied. It is here and it won't disappear. But the most interesting thing about the history of hacking is that it was expected to happen. You only need to check old science fiction books to find it.
